Title: A new beginning
Post by: Suellen on January 26, 2016, 10:53:42 AM
Hi, my name is Suellen, I'm 64 and wanna be free. I'm an Aussie on my way to Europe in Sept. Any advice on buying a campervan in Europe would be much appreciated. I intend to live and travel with my dog Lolly for as long as possible. My only problem is the Schengen Agreement and how I manage to live and survive in the Uk during winter.

The Schengen area exists in mainland Europe, the UK isn't part of the Schengen area. Some countries have reintroduced some border controls due to the current migrant crisis but this isn't anything to worry about.

Surviving a UK winter can be done by going to Greece or Spain but some people do live in their vans in the UK. Steeve at http://bricktorubber.blogspot.co.uk/ is doing just that at the moment. UK winters aren't usually that cold but some years it can be harsh, not that often though.

I wouldn't worry about the Schengen agreement. I don't think it will affect you really.

Perhaps consider going to a slightly warmer country during the winter months, just avoid Germany and anything east of it during the cold time of the year as they are freezing!
