Title: Full time flea marketers looking to convert a sprinter to live and haul
Post by: Babalopes on August 28, 2017, 04:25:45 PM
Hello, my name is Maggie. My husband and 6 month old son are on the road traveling and doing flea markets. Our home base is Florida but we are in the ohio area for the summer. We want to convert a 170 inch wheel base sprinter into a camper and we want to haul a single axle 6x12 trailer. I'm looking to make it beautiful seeing that we want to full time in it for the next year or so. We are new to this world of living on the road... well I am my husband grew up in a van on the road with his family. Any insight to van life with a small family would be amazing. I'm sure I will come up with lots of questions in the near future and I would really appreciate any ideas and info that comes our way. Thank you all

Greetings & Welcome!

I'm going to have to suggest a cheap used Class C RV  for you.  It might not get quite as good gas mileage, but it will be much more capable of pulling your trailer, and a much nicer living environment for you.

A van, even a big one, feels cramped with 2 people.  It CAN be done, but the question  becomes WHY?  Reliability and comfort are the top two things on my list, and no cargo van is going to be truly comfortable, and sprinters aren't known for reliability either.

A typical Dodge, Ford, or Chevy Class C can be worked on by almost any mechanic anywhere, and parts are cheap and plentiful.  Sprinters require a sprinter specific shop, which can be hard to find, repairs are ridiculously expensive, and parts can take weeks  or even months to arrive.

Good Luck & keep us posted!
