Title: HI ALL
Post by: Shawbags on September 11, 2017, 10:49:16 PM
Just saying hi , I've converted a lot of vans over the years , ive owned WV's t2 , t25 , now a t4  , I've owned merc's 308 and 508   , ldv's pilot and convoy , Citroen relay and romahome , if I can give advice I will . My first bit of advice is stop going to the pub waisting your money and waking up feeling crap and have nothing to show for it  :-[ , work , save , convert your van and live in it , you will save a fortune , best time to start your conversion is around April may if you have to work outside , do your research , plan your conversion, don't take on too much because there are plenty of half converted vans that people have up on , last but
Not least enjoy yourself 😁 , cheers

Thank you for mentioning both WORK and SAVING!  The lack of skills, and the lack of planning spells the downfall of too many newbies.  They quit a good job and hit the road thinking they can work along the way, only to find out those jobs aren't as easy to find as they were told.

Life isn't free no matter what, and if you don't have a good solid plan for an income, the time to figure it out is BEFORE you quit your current job.  Too many people are only one breakdown away from financial disaster and possible homelessness.  Here in the USA there is an abundance of low/no skill jobs available, but only if you know where to find them.

I keep an emergency fund large enough to replace my van and everything in it, plus a separate repair fund, and 6 months worth of living expenses.  Cheap enough disaster insurance, and I don't need to argue with some insurance company to do the right thing.  I actually had my van stolen once, and if it hadn't been for my pre-planning, I would have been in a really bad situation.

Cheers!

Yes I agree with everything you say and it's a shame when
People have to learn the hard way , I only do it part time but I'm prepared for the day I might have to .
