Hi All,

Do UK insurance companies issue green cards for use in Europe? If not has anyone had any problems from local police or border crossings etc as a result of only having the normal certificate of insurance and supporting documents?

Hi, I would go with a leisure battery with split charger rely from your vehicle charging system just like Mike has on his van. If you haven't got a copy of his ebook yet its well worth a look as he goes in to great detail about his electrical system and basic electrical theory too. For £10 its worth every penny in my opinion :)

Van Conversion / Re: Splitting battery cable

Hi, Could you run one main input from your batteries in to the top of your fuse box then daisy chain small loops of cable from fuse input to fuse input effectively joining them all together on one side of the fuse box creating one large input if you like. Use the largest cable you can fit in to the terminals, would that be an option? With regard to the solar charge controller input, just run the charge controller direct to the battery with a suitable separate inline fuse and maybe an isolator switch? You are also correct about the inverter, it will indeed require its own dedicated cable of a suitable size with its own inline fuse. With all of the above needing to be connected direct to the battery you will need battery terminals that will allow all of these inputs to be attached securely without getting in the way of each other.

Hi everyone,

I currently in the process of downsizing in preparation for taking the plunge as a full time van dweller, although I plan to save enough money to get me by for at least a winter in warmer more pleasant surroundings, then the plan is to come back to the UK for summer to try to find enough work to pay for my winter travels back to sunnier climates. This will also keep me on the UK radar and will allow me to have an E111 card and sort out any medical problems etc while back in the UK Eventually things like pensions will kick in and money worries will ease up a little but for now:

Is this doable? Does anyone do something similar?
How do people make money while living this way?

Thanks. Paul
