Hello
I wish I could attend this, it sounds like fun. It's just too expensive for me at this time. Maybe next year if it happens again.
Thanks for posting it Camper_Dan

Common Room / Checking in.

Hello all. I've been in the van a month now. Stress is at a minimum and I'm doing great. I still punch a clock M-F but I don't have to work more than the 40 hours a week average vs the 50-60 I was working to pay for my moldy apartment. I hope you all are doing well.

Cheers

Hey all
I've been living in my van for three weeks now. I'm loving it and have rarely felt so stress free. I'm looking forward to a fun and adventurous summer and beyond.

Hello
I'm new to vanlife but I find myself also doing litter patrol wherever I'm parked. Thanks for keeping the world clean.

Van Conversion / Re: Bed in the van
April 09, 2018, 11:54:09 AM
Hello

I know that I wouldn't want something that I would have to make up each night to go to bed. All the pictures and videos of people with all these great builds but they have to pull the bed out or push it in when they want to do anything is ridiculous and against human nature. My bed takes up 6 feet of my 10 foot space but I'll be in it a third of the time I'm in my van I might as well be comfortable.

Thanks for commenting.

Thank you.
I'll be using that til I can find a deep cell I can afford. My power needs are minimum and I'll have daily access to shore power.

Van Conversion / Battery question
April 08, 2018, 06:04:15 PM
Is it necessary to use a deep cell battery  for your house battery?
I have a car battery from my old car. It's less than a year old.  Will that work for a house battery?

Thanks

Van Conversion / Bed in the van

Hello all. This is more of a progress report.
I finally got the time and energy to get the platform for my bed built into the van. It's going lengthwise because I am taller than my van is wide and my dog won't let me sleep sideways on the bed, not that I want to anyway. I'm not a carpenter so it's a bit rough but once the mattress is on it won't make a difference. It's a passenger van with the interior intact and I had to trim the plywood to fit around the heater ducting and other things. I'm actually pretty proud of myself. Next is anchors for the set of drawers I'm putting in.
Thanks and have a great day.

I'm in S. Seattle area. There's a ton of places to get stuff I'm sure but I'm new to the area and have no idea where to look or even to search google for. Plus I'm lazy after a long days work and don't want to drive and scavenge.

The tie rods and alignment are done and the exhaust issues will be taken care of next pay check. I'm have windows that open and I don't drive far.

The bed supports are being built this weekend.

I put in the 30 day notice with the apartment manager today. No turning back now.

It seems like I'm spending money like water right now. My van needs some work done and I'm trying to get it taken care of before I have to move. I'm giving my apartment notice today and that puts me out of here on the 30th. I still need to get the platform for the bed built though that will only take me an afternoon at most. This move is consuming my life but I've rarely felt more alive. I think this is the right decision and even if it only lasts for the summer it'll be worth it.

Dan.
Thanks again. I had thought to use the existing bolt holes but was flummoxed as to how. I'm not sure what a fitting strip is but I'll google it and if I can make what I have work. I starting out with some furniture that I already own while I figure out what I need. What I have may not be talk enough for the L brackets but I'll see what I can make happen. Just needed ideas.

Van Conversion / Anchor
April 04, 2018, 01:08:16 PM
Hello all
For those of you in passenger or window vans with minimum conversion.
How do you anchor the furniture/cabinets? Is the paneling strong enough to take an anchor bolt? Would a drywall type of anchor work?

Thanks

Thank you for that information. I have a good job now that will cover all my debt in time. It's nice to know that there are still jobs available for those of us who are more physical than computer based.

As you say.
