I'm in Oxfordshire so I'm a good 100miles from you! How long did the electrics take you?

Obviously I know it'll take me alot longer given your profession haha

Van Conversion / Where to get Electrics sorted?
March 19, 2015, 09:05:38 AM
As you may know, I have recently bought an LDV Convoy. However, I have no idea about electrics at all. Does anyone know anywhere decently priced that would fit a similar system to Mikes in the UK?

Leisure Battery, 12v Fuse Box, Lights, Inverter etc

Cheers!

Horrible story Tai-Chi! Hope everyone was okay afterwards. Definitely wont be stopping for anyone on my travels

It has one side and one back window. Its a 2003 LDV Convoy.

I'm going to use cladding on the inside, just don't know whats best to put between the cladding and van walls. Also I dont know whats best to put under the boarding on the floor. Heard polystyrene is the best solution but squeaking could become very annoying.

Welcome to the Forum HappyCamper! Its great to see yet another person so willing to offer advice and be helpful! It seems that Campervan living attracts the good types of people.

What are your views on the best insulation for floor and walls? Need to do mine soon and I've seen mixed comments around the internet.

Don't worry boys I'll help you out. I'm completely inexperienced with living in a van and converting but I'm more than happy to let people know how to avoid the mistakes I'll inevitably make!

Yeah it was £1300 including a brand new MOT. Very happy with it. Currently stripping it all out ready for rust repair and fibre glass patching of screw holes etc

Just to add to the above ^ it only cost me £1300 which saved loads on my original budget!

Thanks for being so helpful CamperVanTravels! Definitely the most active member of the forum.

Just an update: I bought myself a 2003 LDV Convoy although it was born on 30th Dec so its only just missed being a 2004!

It looks great, had a brand new MOT with no advisories and just has a few holes which is no big deal. Its only holes in the floor where the previous owner has screwed into the floor and then removed the screws and just taped over the holes (doesn't stop water surprisingly) but its nothing a bit of fibre glass resin won't fix!

Really excited to start the conversion. I'm definitely stealing loads of Mikes ideas for it. (sorry mike!)

Van Conversion / Legalities: Gas Hob
March 13, 2015, 08:49:34 AM
Hey Guys,

I have just read this:

(3) No person shall use, or cause or permit to be used, in or on a
vehicle on a road any gas-fired appliance unless the vehicle is so
ventilated that-
(a) an ample supply of air is available for the operation of the
appliance; (b) the use of the appliance does not adversely affect the health
or comfort of any person using the vehicle; and
(c) any unburnt gas is safely disposed of to the outside of the
vehicle.

Which makes me ask the question, when installing a gas hob and LPG bottle, do you have to install an extractor fan or is the gas hob being near a door enough? Have any of you had to install extractor fans? I dont particularly want to but I don't know what I can get away with as i see that Mike installed one.

Cheers
