Heya I was in the same situation but got a totally awesome deal in the end. I went with AdriunFlux and they insured me for only 800 quid was super chuffed I thought it was gonne be like double that. My van is a Ford Transit Luton.

I'm in the final stages of converting a Ford Transit Luton. I cut a hole through the top of the cab so you pop up under the bed which is a little awkward. But I'm glad I did it, another great thing is you can open it up when your driving and its a great way to get a shit loads of air under the mattress, dealing with the problem of annoying moisture. No problems with the MOT.
Currently living in it and its bloody brilliant! Installing a wood burner very soon which will make it super cosy for the winter! Woopwoop!
