Hi All,
I've been away for a while (not in the in prison way ;D just not able to access the forum)trying to sort out life. But, it's decided to give me a kick in the nuts and i think i'll be evicted in the next couple of months.
So, I gotta go find me a cheap van that the two of us can live in, kit out (basic) and heat (plumping for a woodburner) that'll keep us going over the winter.
Any ideas, pointers, guidance, advice etc. all gratefully received.

That depends on your budget. How much can you spend on a van, how luxurious do you want it to be, what facilities do you need and how competent you are with vehicles and with d.i.y.
It is possible to kit out a van in a few days with plenty of hard work and long hours and end up with something comfortable but with basic facilities.
I would find a van that meets your needs and budget. Strip it out and do any bodywork repairs and make it water tight. Then insulate, you can't have enough insulation. You can sleep on the floor, camping style if you need more time to build a couch/bed and you can cook and wash using camping equipment.
Check youtube for videos, there is a channel called sprinter van living and he fitted out a sprinter in a week. Check out how Mike Hudson, this website owner, how he did his van.

thanks for the advice. These life glitches are just that. Once over the hump we'll get down the other side. I'll research the YT videos mentioned. I think (as with everything), there's some serious learning to be done. But needs must and the adventure is giving me no option. ;) i shall (by hook or by crook), be prepared.

I'd thoroughly recommend a luton. Their squareness makes it really easy to work on.

cheers mate, appreciate the feedback. I've been looking at your site. very impressive build you're doing there. I'll have to see what i can afford. Once they've finished with me :-\
No probs, didn't manage to add any more stuff over the weekend unfortunately. I was the same with my homework!
I'll try and add to it tomorrow.
Just to give you an idea of cost, mine was £2,700 with abouk 80k on the clock. You could probably get one cheaper to be honest, I just rushed in because I wanted to get started.
