Hi all,
I'm converting a transit custom and am trying to find the best way to insulate the cab from the rest of the van whilst having the option to keep it open for a swivel seat.
What I really want is a decent insulated curtain dividing the cab and the back. Anyone have any ideas where I might be able to buy this in the UK?
Could try making one myself but already pushed for time on the conversion.
I had see that Fiamma make a thermo wall but its designed for a Fiat Ducato. Anyone used this and have any idea if it would fit a transit custom or be easy to modify?
Thanks for any help,
Chris

Greetings & Welcome!

I'm in the USA, so a transit custom doesn't really tell me much other than it's a Ford van.  It would be nice to have more details, such as window van, cargo van, high or low top, and perhaps length.

What you are proposing could be built easy enough, a 3 panel sliding partition.  The bigger question is why? What are you trying to accomplish?  The whole van is easy enough to either heat or cool with proper equipment, and is better for the vans health.  If you're just looking for privacy, a curtain is cheaper and easier.  If you're looking for security, you're wasting your time because once they're inside they'll take whatever time it takes to get into the back, but they usually break into the back from the outside anyway. (knock a lock out and unlock it)

I've never seen anybody who wanted to swivel their front seat, use more than a curtain, and most use side window covers and windshield covers instead, if they are using anything at all.  Too many people find themselves very uncomfortable in windowless or nearly windowless boxes.  Very few people who have been full timers for any length of time have cargo vans, they always upgrade to window vans because we always get stuck inside during bad weather and stuff, and windows make those times so much better.

Good Luck & keep us posted!
