Legalities: Gas Hob

Hey Guys,

I have just read this:

(3) No person shall use, or cause or permit to be used, in or on a
vehicle on a road any gas-fired appliance unless the vehicle is so
ventilated that-
(a) an ample supply of air is available for the operation of the
appliance; (b) the use of the appliance does not adversely affect the health
or comfort of any person using the vehicle; and
(c) any unburnt gas is safely disposed of to the outside of the
vehicle.

Which makes me ask the question, when installing a gas hob and LPG bottle, do you have to install an extractor fan or is the gas hob being near a door enough? Have any of you had to install extractor fans? I dont particularly want to but I don't know what I can get away with as i see that Mike installed one.

Just ensure you pop in a few vents as close to the floor of the back of your van as possible as the gas will always head downwards. And get a carbon monoxide detector on board too if you are worried. Easiest commonsense solution though when cooking on a gas powered hob and grill is to just open a window or door. Problem solved. Easy.

Agree, door, window, roof vent, in a van you are never more than a couple of feet from an open space. Cutouts in the floor in case of a leak a defo. job to do. Carbon mono sensor another, other than that just treat your gas appliance and cylinder with respect.

Yeah what they said ^. Just do a good job of installing it and be careful. I always have the side door open when I'm cooking anyway
