Does anyone have recommendations on storing propane outside of the van?
We recently bought a Sprinter and are headed to Mexico in a week for 2 months. We are going barebones on the buildout for now - just a bed in the back and crates for storage. (Full buildout to start this summer!)  Weather permitting we'll be doing all our cooking outside. Since we don't really have the time to build a locker inside, we were thinking of strapping the tank underneath, or somewhere outside of the van. The only issue would be getting a heavy tank down everytime we want to cook, or getting a really long hose. Recommendations? Is it safe to have a tank on  the outside of the van in super hot Mexico? Would it be ok to put it on the roof?
Thanks!

I cant speak for the heat of mexico but I'm guessing no matter where you are it needs to be stood upright. Especially when its in use. Under the van wont be an option. Plus if your on some rough ground I wouldnt want to risk puncturing the tank under the van.

A locker for the bottle doesnt need to be fancy. In fact a plywood box sealed at the joints with silicon could easily be constructed. The main thing is to have a vent in the floor. Propane is heavier than air. Even in the heat of mexico I think. You dont been to go cutting access door in the side of the van you can just make a safe place in the van for it.
