Hello everyone, I just purchased a 2006 E150 passenger van to convert, I've ripped out the seats and started on the wall panels.  Behind the rear drivers side panel I found an AC unit, just wondering if anyone here has run into this, and if you were able to keep it and work around it.  Any suggestions would be great.
Cheers

First I would suggest not removing anything but the seats.  Unless the rest of the interior is beyond repair, keeping it will save you a bunch of money.  Passenger vans are designed from the ground up for superior driving, safety, and the comfort of their occupants.  I would take full advantage of that fact, and not try to reinvent the wheel.

I would never tear out a rear heater or A/C.  That would be very counter productive.  The ability to heat or cool your whole van while on your way to your parking spot is marvelous, and will save you the extra time and money starting the process from scratch once you arrive.  Keeping your whole van either warm or cool will provide a better driving experience, as well as a better camping one.
