Hello,

FTP here.
So ive got a 2008 vauxhall combo that im kitting out as a mini camper for MTB, Ive started doing electrical work in the back (Inverter, lights USB ports etc.) and when wiring up the 100A cable from the primary battery (Secondary to come at a later date) I noticed that the red and black cable from the battery are reversed (Red goes to the negative post and black to the positive post).

Everything in the van works fine, the polarity markings on the battery are correct and because of this I have had to wire a Red wire (For the electronics im installing) on to what is essentially the black coloured harness. The pictures below will give more understanding of what im trying to explain.

My questions at the end of this is as follows; Is this normal? Is it a vauxhall thing? Is it bad practice/gonna fail a MOT? and finally, should I get this changed? Also, Am I being an idiot somehow?

Thanks for all the help and happy converting!

Also glory shot to show off the beginning of the electrics, not totally happy with the wire management but there is more to be added (Split charge relay + leisure battery, Kill switch and 100A+ relay for the inverter as well)

Greetings &  Welcome!

My apologies for the belated reply, your message got lost in a mountain of spam posts.

I would trace your wires and see which ones go to ground.  Wire color can be deceiving, but I have seen positive ground vehicles too...

Cheers & keep us posted!
