A van gives you freedom to travel. But if you combine that with your own plot of land and you’re free to do whatever you want – grow food, generate your own power, be outside without getting arrested during the next pandemic etc.
In this post I’ll take you through my detour through Portugal, looking at plots of land for sale.
Sometimes I look at land for sale in Portugal
But this time I went visit some in my van
Castelo Branco is the first stop
There’s a lot of land for sale around here
But where is everyone?
And can you just turn up and have a look?
Let’s find out
Take this dirt road out of town
Wait. Is this a good idea?
Yes
Welcome to land world
Thousands of hectares of land
Pull up and have a look
The land is wild and alive
Even in winter
With the cork oaks and evergreens
The track takes you into the mountains
And back down to the river
Where we’ll stay the night
After a few days of doing this I met a local who showed me how much cheaper it is buying land directly from the owner. He showed me a 5 hectare plot of land with a water for 5500 Euro!
I didn’t go much further than this but maybe the seed has been planted.
