Common Room / Transporting a lot of bikes in a van
March 15, 2018, 04:36:09 PM
Folks
I need some advice.  I need to transport a lot of bicycles (mixture of road, hybrid and mountain) in a van.  Up to 30.  I have not yet bought the van.  I need it to be secure, with all the bikes staying in place whilst the van is moving, and no damage.  I can't afford to buy a trailer - and 12 is the limit on this anyway - and it's for multiple journeys so hire isn't an option either.  Research tells me some combination of wall mounts, floor anchorage points, bungee chord, possibly flipping bikes upside down so resting on seat and handlebars or maybe fork mounts (though don't really want to take any wheels off) might be the way to get a large volume of bikes in and keep them secure.  With blankets, foam piping or bubble wrap around loose components like pedals and shifters.
Do people have any advice?
Thanks
Rich
