Title: Can I screw into my High top fiberglass roof top?
Post by: Leuwe on March 11, 2019, 11:35:08 PM
Hi guys,
I m a happy owner of a GMC VANDURA 1989

The guy who sold me the van say it's a kind of fiberglass with two levels, basically you have  the Outside fiberglass / air (for insulation) / inside fiberglass... So my question is: can I screw the outside side to attach a roof rack for example? I m afraid to break something or make a big crack with the fibration or wathever..

I try to find this answer for a while...

Thank you very much.

Greetings!

I wouldn't.  Every hole in every roof is a leak waiting to happen.

Since you've got rain gutters, I would absolutely go with a gutter mount rack.

Some people also use 3M VHB tape, but I've never used it, so can't offer advice on it.

Cheers!
