Title: MOT
Post by: dreamy mike on March 02, 2016, 10:34:47 AM
Greetings all, I hope to begin travelling very soon and wondered how you go about staying legal re the MOT test, is it possible to get the test in whichever country you are in? I once had a car tested in Spain (it passed) but they wouldn't issue me a certificate (sticker for the window) unless I changed the registration. Thanks for any info. Dreamy Mike.

Forgot to add, I am 63, don't own much, am married, have a (largish) dog and am following all the information on here as much as I can. Currently live in Exeter, Devon.

Unless the vehicle's registered in the country it's tested you won't get a certificate. You can get tested to check your safe, like you did. If MOT expires when abroad I'd say book one for when you get straight of the ferry. I guess this could affect your insurance though.

I don't think there's a simple answer. Perhaps get the van retested to get a full year MOT before you head abroad.
