Van Conversion / Re: Van recommendations?

I'm guessing (and this is speculative rather than practical) that i'd be looking for a long wheel base (or extra long) and as high top as possible.

I've noticed a couple of British Gas vans that look like transits at the front and have what is effectively a massive rectangle on the back. Possible prime real estate.

Cheap is good and obviously (for want of a better word) the holy grail. It's finding something that doesn't turn out to be a money pit, can be worked on for a reasonable price and will allow you some space to actually live and yet travel as/when you want to.

Nirvana? Should be attainable.... I'll certainly keep a look out for any of you who are in the market if I come across anything. Though i'm no expert :-)

cheers

Cheers Jimmy,

I'm at the stage now where all my life skills will be of no practical help with this adventure :-) I can get by in terms of simple maintenance, once I've found the vehicle, which in itself seems to be the mammoth task. Go cheap, suffer the problems or the inability to repair, go expensive and still potentially have the problems.

I'm guessing nirvana is finding something which is cheap enough to buy, easy to maintain etc.

It would be good to have a friendly mechanic/s on hand to help/advise etc. Maybe pool resources/skills in a bata sort of system (sweat equity). Help in fitting out, that kind of thing.

Just batting some ideas out there.

thanks again for the welcome. It's much appreciated

Cheers

Just an introduction. Currently in the research phase of my ongoing journey.

Hopefully, yours will be an enriching adventure too.
