Hi everyone,

New to the forums but absolutely loving the website so far. Thanks for all the ideas.

Im currently trying to convert my first van and had a quick question regarding the kitchen area: Ive got a hob and sink from an old VW (looks almost identical to Mike's) and was going to simply fix the metal casing it comes in to the frame of my kitchen unit cupboards. I just wanted to check however that i dont need to insulate the metal or the wood in contact before fixing it in place? Ive no idea how much heat the hobs conduct into the casing, and whether it would be enough to be a fire hazard?

Any exeperience with these hobs?

Cheers, Alex

I wouldn't think it would heat up the stainless parts. I too have the same type and haven't bothered with any heatproofing.

Heat moves upwards so I think you'll be fine :)

Agree, have not put any special insulation around mine, been in over 2 years now.
