Vanlife Morocco: my 7 favourite spots

We arrived by boat from Spain to Tanger Med
See this post:
How to get to Morocco by van (2025) – in 6 simple steps

We drove all day then rested in this eucalyptus forest
See post:
Morocco by van: The first two days

Good water is free and easy to find

Same with good fresh food

We’re heading south

Via the Argan and animals

And a stop in Essaouira

And down the road to Sidi Kaouki
See this post:
Sidi Kaouki by campervan

We skipped Taghazout and headed to Tamraght
See this post:
Vanlife morocco: Taghazout’s chilled-out cousin (with less sewage)

It’s a bit more chilled

And camping around here is much easier

We headed into the mountains for an adventure

We got what we wanted

A 3 week side adventure

Fixing the van
See this post:
Breaking down in Morocco – I almost lost the van

Living in a scrapyard

In the town of Aourir
See this post:
Stranded: How this Moroccan scrapyard became home for 3 Weeks

But having a good time

The main adventure continues

We tried the mountains again

They call it Paradise Valley
See post:
Paradise Valley by campervan (Morocco)

I wanted to show Sarah my favourite place

Exploring Tafraoute
Tafraoute – my favourite place in Morocco

Camping by the blue rocks

Dinner amongst the palms

Winter had passed. The valley is empty

It’s getting hot and we’re not even at the desert yet

But the landscape is very cool

Gelato mountains

But we’re not quite at the desert yet

We drove for miles over the harsh landscape

OK. This is the desert

The heat from the rocks was unbearable… even at night

We travelled west to east

With a quick tea stop in Zagora

Things feel more relaxed in the south

We made it to the Merzouga dunes
See post:
Vanlife Morocco: sleeping in the Merzouga dunes

One of my favourite camping spots
See my other favourite spots in this post:
Vanlife Morocco: my 7 favourite spots

We met mo and his bro

Slept under the stars

And experienced that morning desert sun

But it’s time to start heading back up

We cooled off in the hot springs

Then went looking for crystals in the mountains
See post:
Vanlife Morocco: Aouli mines and crystal hunting

In the old abandoned mines of Aourir

Time to head north

Where the monkeys live

And multiply

Up in the fresh air forest of azou

Which contrasts nicely with Fez

Which contrasts nicely with Chefchouen

Three months is up. Back to Spain

Thanks for reading.
