Here are my 7 favourite spots in Morocco to visit and stay in a van (in the order visited)…
Also see this post for the full tour of Morocco (and route):
1. Sidi Kaouki
Wild stretch of beach with a few simple cafes and surf shack.

2. Tamraght
A calmer version Taghazout just down the coast with easy free-camping – right on the beach or up on the cliffs.

3. Blue Rocks
A long-time favourite of mine. I love this whole landscape and the painted blue rocks just make it even cooler / more surreal. I love camping here at nighttime.

4. Tafraoute
My favourite place to come in the winter. You can camp amongst the palms in the valley, surrounded by cool rock formations. The town is great as well, just a walk away.

5. Foum Zguid
Following the dirt track from Foum Zguid has to be the most remote place I’ve ever been in the van. It’s unforgiving, harsh rocky desert. The further we drove, the more dangerous it felt. This would be much better for prepared off-roaders, rather than a normal van like mine.

6. Merzouga Dunes
Definitely the more touristy part of the desert. But the dunes are amazing and you can camp right next to them, which make this place truly unique.

7. Aouli mines
Potentially a week’s worth of adventure. Lots to explore and learn. Very interesting places to camp. But be REALLY careful on that wooden bridge. Cross at your own risk.
