Stranded: How this Moroccan scrapyard became home for 3 Weeks

After the van broke down in Paradise valley, we got taken to the nearest town, Aourir, which became our home for three weeks whilst we tried to get the van back on the road.

So let’s explore this local moroccan town of Aourir…

We came back down the mountain on a recovery truck

We came back down the mountain on a recovery truck

In the town of Aourir

We moved to Ali’s garage down the road

Because this one has a toilet

And friendly neighbours

They gave us a tour of the town

Met the whole family

We ran down the beach

Taxis are available

Just 50 minutes to Paradise Valley

But everything you need is here…

The tuna man

Bread man

Rabbit boy

BBQ guy day or night

The parsley man

DIY store

Samir’s car parts

The cafes rarely disappoint

Same with the weekly food market

Every kind of date

The bananas grow right here in this town

I walk up the hill

To say goodbye

For 3 weeks we lived in a scrapyard with the street dogs. Unable to start the van or move it. Totally stuck. It was stressful. But it’s one of those times where you only truly see the value of it in hindsight. It was a great time. One that can never be recreated or itinerary…ised.
