I heard about a town in Spain where more people travel by horse than by car. When I got there, I found so much more.
In this post we’ll explore the Andalusian village of El Rocío, by campervan. This place is well worth a visit. I’ll also share where you can park and stay the night in your van.

This must be it

Saturday afternoon in El Rocío

The whole town is like this?

Like a movie set

With paid actors

The town is made for horse and cart

Ride to the local bar

Visitors come from all over Spain

To visit the ‘Virgin El Rocío’

And the Doñana national park

One of the largest wetlands in Europe

But the sand becomes too deep to drive on

Without a 4×4

Which is why I got stuck

Best to park here and walk in

The pine forests are pristine

This whole place feels real and unspoilt

We spent a couple of days looking for Lynx

But mostly just saw these cool birds

Spain is alive! Every time I come back I’m reminded of how brilliant this country is.
