everythin-must-fit

No major update but the completion of this cupboard really makes the van start to look more complete. I’ll now start to run the pipes for gas and water.

shelves
This cupboard unit came about from the gap between the sink and the shower unit. It ended up working quite well since it can fit in all the utilities such as the fridge, water heater and flue, pump and loads of shelf room for like… those real nice crystal ornaments you can get.
plywood-shelf
I used the same lightweight (but strong) construction to build the shelves as I did with the cupboard doors. To maximise space I cut around the water heater flue trunking
hole-for-flue
I used a 58mm hole saw which after a bit of sanding gave me a perfect fit for the roof flue vent.
bottom-tuma-flue
I found this pretty neat caravan flue on Ebay but its a 60mm diameter for connection to ducting. I am reusing some 80mm ducting so I had to look for some kind of reducer

I found a car parts guy on Ebay selling these really decent silicone reducers in all sorts of different sizes.
80-to-60-reducer
Seems to fit nicely. It is quite a reduction in size but hopefully it wont cause a bottle neck for escaping gasses.

Heres the flue coming 10cm above the rood – just short enough to fit under the roof rack nicely

One thing that would really complete this masterpiece, props by the way!, is to make it run off would gas. It is totally possible to run combustion motors on pine cones, walnut shells, twigs, and small wood chunks. Over a million vehicles ran on it in Europe during WWII. Imagine no more fuel costs! There are many books, and videos out there, but the basic idea is you have a wood stove, filter, cool, and route it into the motor with 50% fresh air. You might be able to figure it out so it replace your boiler, and the vent out the top ran through outdoor cooling tubes on the way to your motor. a rack on the back could hold dry fuel to keep on trucking… I have some interesting articles and research on this if you would like more info. let me know. Loads of stuff on youtube too…

Nice idea. Finally a use for all those pistachio shells 🙂 could potentially solve two problems though but sounds like a whole project in itself! I’ll have a read if you wouldn’t mind sending me the links?
