After driving 2000km north through Sweden in my van we got to Abisko National Park, high up in Swedish Lapland.
Abisko is the kind of place you have to intentionally set out to go to. It’s not on the way to anywhere; it’s at the end.
But let me show you why it’s worth the journey…
The road to Abisko
Is the road to the mountains
Get out at any point and explore
Home to one of the worlds top hikes: The King’s Trail

Choose a path
Or non at all
It doesn’t matter
Let it take you
It’s all breathtaking here
The Lapponian Gate
This U-shaped valley is where the world record was set (2021) for the longest highline walk at 2.1km across the peaks!
You might also visit Vadvetjåkka, Sweden’s least visited national park
But it is cold
Back to the van
Park in the Harbour
For sunsets like this
Which turn into an Aurora show

Oh and there’s also this hidden tiny-home village
Abikso national park is one of the most unspoilt bit of European wilderness I’ve ever been to: Mountains, lakes, crystal clear streams and rivers, amazing light that’s different every day and not to mention the night sky.
And it’s the sky that makes Abisko unique. They call it the ‘blue hole’ phenomenon – a patch of clear sky that extends to 20 sq km over the village, regardless of surrounding weather. This is why you can see the Aurora almost every night. This is why I came here.
