Every now and then there’s a spot which really makes me think that I could live there, in the van, for quite a while. Here’s one we found the other day on the south coast of the Peloponnese…
I’ve said it when I first arrived, but Greece is wild camping paradise (see post)
So what makes a good spot?
Just the right distance away from town
A bike ride away is good
A bit overgrown
I like to blend in. The overgrown areas are better
A nice view
Snowy mountains, clear sea, nice buildings – this place had them all
Close to nature
I still want quiet nights sleep and wake up to the sound of birds in the morning
Internet
I’m improving at my internet getting skills, but good wifi is still a luxury
Other vans
It’s nice to know you’re not alone. This was the first time I’d seen other vans months
Dogs
Because sometimes it’s nice to share your dinner
The thing is, I don’t think there is such thing as a perfect spot (at least, for me) – one day I like to be on the side of a mountain with no internet, and the next day I’d like to be in a big city. I like to bounce around as I feel, and I guess that’s why I’m living in a van.
