Wild-camping- where have we been staying?

wild-camping

My aim is to wild camp as much as possible. Wilding is way more fun, exciting and gives more freedom and variety. After all, I built the van to be off-grid so I would not have to rely on mains electric hookups on campsites.

Here are some of my favourite spots we’ve stayed over the past week or so. The other places have just been lay-bys, urban car parks and lorry stops – mainly when doing a lot of driving.

French sand dunes

We stayed just round the corner from the sand dunes in a nice wooded park area by the sea. There were a few other friendly vanners there as well.

Hills in Northern Spain

OK, I already used this photograph in my other post; ‘first week of travel‘. We stayed right next to a lake (Embalse de Ullivarri). A great spot with loads of wildlife. There was even a well that we used washed our clothes in.

Lakes in the Spanish mountains

We found a big open area by a lake in the Spanish mountains which looked like a great spot so we turned round and stayed for a couple of nights. No one was around. We turned the speakers up to full, drank local wine, had a fire and made silly music under the full moon. I cannot think how I could possibly ever feel more free than this – amazing

I cant wait to see whats next… maybe I should do a ‘spot of the week’ or maybe month ย ?

This is amazing!! I am doing a similar thing but in New Zealand…though
my van is not as pimped out as yours! Love it..Enjoying hearing about
your adventures! If you ever do this again after Europe I suggest coming
to NZ.. It is a great country to freedom camp in.
